Godfidence

I feel like it's a little ironic that I’m writing a blog post about faith and confidence.
And that’s not because I don’t have any faith or self-confidence. Actually quite the contrary. I honestly do believe I can be anything I truly want to be. I honestly do believe that anything is possible and nothing is off limits. I honestly do believe nothing is beyond my reach. I honestly do believe that with a sprinkle of confidence and a whole lot of faith I can achieve anything.
But my god, its so easy to forget all of that when I’m going about my day-to-day life. It’s easy to let fear and self-doubt completely dominate my thoughts.
My struggles with confidence
This is my first time writing about this, but not my first time having these feelings.
Despite being surrounded by an overwhelming amount of evidence that I absolutely shouldn’t be doubting myself, I still do.
I let myself entertain the idea that I’m not good enough, that no ones gives a damn about what I have to say or that I wont ever be successful. And those thoughts play on repeat on a daily basis. They just come up at the most random times.
No matter what’s going on, and the number of people around me constantly telling me I’m doing an amazing job. I still feel the same way— no incentive required.
But I’m writing a post about confidence... And doing my best to be completely honest with you.
The truth about confidence
I dont want this to be something considered to be sappy, or even give you any useless recycled advice you hear all the time. I’m not here to tell you to stand up straight, smile more, or to think positive all the time.
All that mushy advice about how you should be and should act is complete bullshit. Being more confident isn’t that simple, and it sure as hell doesn’t happen over night.
We’re talking about some real intense changing of our thoughts and even some beliefs that have been hardwired into our brains over the matter of years, or decades.
It takes hard work to improve those things, and confidence doesn’t just come in a cute box with a bow on top. And sometimes you have to dig really deep and pull the ugly stuff out first.
“Whatever we expect with confidence becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy.”
-Brian Tracy
Where it comes from?
It’s our thoughts that create confidence, not our results. I know, it may feel like it comes from our results but truth is it doesn’t. Think about it...we always think things like:
I’ll have more confidence when my hair is done how I want it.
I’ll have more confidence when I have a better body.
I’ll be confident when my outfits look better.
I’ll have more confidence with more makeup on.
I’ll have more confidence wen I have a boyfriend.
We all have probably said at least one of these before, I know I have. And sometimes we do feel more confident after those things happen, but it’s not because of those events that made us more confident. It’s because we gave ourselves permission to feel confident after those events. You following me?
Is it really our thoughts that create confidence? I think so.
What happens when we do achieve these things? Are we confident now? Most times...no, we still think the same thoughts as before, so we still don’t feel confident.
These achievements just bring up new fears and doubts. And then we set our sights further into the future, pinning our confidence on some new result. Like having a better body, or cuter clothes, or a better job.
If we want to achieve more confidence we have to work on our thoughts and our attitude and not on our appearance.
The faith I live by
“Faith it til you make it”
How could I write this blog post without mentioning my favorite topic faith.
I think most achievements happen due to having a little faith that they will actually happen. Right?
As a natural perfectionist, we feel like we’re never doing enough and we’ll never be enough, no matter how successful our life looks from the outside. It can be kind of hard to feel confident when you believe that!
I’m a firm believer in “whatever is met for you will be for you” and that no matter the situation God doesn’t make mistakes.
Part of improving confidence is just to add faith to it. Believing something will manifest and trusting the outcome no matter how it looks at the moment, that’s having faith.
I can go on and on about how God has blessed me before, during and after the storm. But, I wont get that deep yet... All I’m saying is trust him, and his plans for your life. Once you do that, I’m sure you’ll be able to gain a little more confidence...or GODfidence.
I want you to imagine what your life would look and feel like if you were more confident in all that you do. I want you to imagine the amazing things you’d be able to achieve with just trusting and having some faith.
These aren’t things were born with, its something we learn. And I’m just here to remind you that you’re in control and anything you want you can have. Look yourself in the mirror and admire yourself more. That’s what helps me at least and I’m loving every bit of it.
Despite doubt sometimes, I have faith that God will take care of me. I know that what Im feeling is normal and relatable.

Until next time..
